Thanks so much for your interest. The painting “Rue” is 12” × 12” square, and is oil on linen mounted on board. It comes from a series of work that involves the emotional engineering (rather than genetic engineering) of plant life; Oopehelia is a part of this group too.
The word ‘rue’ has two meanings, the most widely understood of which has to do with bitter regret. But ‘Rue’ is also the name given to a type of evergreen shrub with value as an herbal medicine. In this image, magic springs from the ordinary, and that feeling of ‘something amazing happening’ from a standard or typical starting point is the emotion I was interested in exploring.
The painting is $800, and I’m estimating that shipping it in the continental US will be about $35, including insurance. If you’re in Illinois, sales tax will add $82. You can live with the painting for a week and return it within that time, but after that the sale is final. The ‘buy now’ button on the bottom of the page is for $400, which is a deposit; when I know your address I’ll make another button to include the exact shipping and tax if applicable, and ship you the painting after it’s paid in full.
