A Shell

A Shell, oil on glue/chalk gesso on panel, 24” x 48” 2008-2019

A dwelling stands as metaphor for human disregard, cluttered with empty hearths near moldering hallways and rooms. Set upon semiprecious stones, supported by the rind of an armadillo, a couple is kept in enforced isolation, vitrined separately, pushed together. They are in view of prisms that lure, dominating the path flanked by doorways and gardens toward daylight, an awakening.

A Shell, 24” x 48”, 2008-2019, was painted in oil on glue/chalk gesso over glue size on cradled hardboard panel.
